That sounds like a reasonable interpretation to me! Last summer I was observing some fiddler crabs on the side of a stream bank. In the south they've got those big Lubber Grasshoppers that can be about the same size as crabs! Well, a crab was crabgodding on the bank, waving its claw as they do, and one of those big bugs came walking right into this crab's space. The crab very deliberately paused from its dance and nudged the grasshopper firmly away from the area. Then went right back to crabgodding. My interpretation? Never fight, but do nudge away when something's bugging you.
